Training:

Public Seminars

At The Negotiating Table, we provide a number of public seminars so that individuals and representatives of smaller companies can benefit from our workshop materials as well as larger corporations. The schedule for these seminars varies, and we announce seminars on our web site about two months in advance.

Other seminars we have offered in the past and may offer again in the future include Managing Conflict in the Workplace, Facing the Unsatisfied Customer, and Advanced Negotiation Workshop. Full descriptions of the workshops follow:

Negotiation Survival Training

This seminar is devoted to basic negotiations skills training, in which the concepts and basic skills of interest-based negotiations are introduced. The theory includes differentiating between interests and positions, exploring the balance between concern for the relationship with the other party and concern for the outcome of the negotiation, and negotiating in the presence of the available alternatives to a negotiated agreement.

The seminar provides a mix of theory, practical skills, and an exercise to practice the new skills. A rough agenda for the seminar is as follows:

The seminar is held at The Negotiating Table from 6:00 PM-8:30:00 PM. Light refreshment is provided. The fee for the class is $95.

Negotiation Refresher

This workshop is intended for people who negotiate frequently in their work or have taken negotiation training in the past. The workshop offers skilled negotiators the opportunity to review some theory and exercise their skills in a safe environment by negotiating with other negotiators. The seminar includes advanced theory and skill-building, including multiparty and team negotiations, role-plays, discussion and skills review.

The seminar is held at The Negotiating Table from 6:00 PM-8:30:00 PM. Light refreshment is provided. The fee for the class is $95.

Managing Conflict and Difficult People

Whether you manage employees in conflict, face unsatisfied customers, or simply deal with difficult people on a regular basis, your conflict management skills are put to the test daily. This workshop introduces mediation and negotiation skills to help you manage these situations with less stress and achieve better results. Good conflict management allows you and your organization to achieve your goals regardless of conflict and reduces the likelyhood of more conflict in the future.

Real-life examples, role-plays, exercises, and the experiences of the participants create a fast-paced, interactive 2 1/2 hour workshop whose lessons can be applied immediately to your conflict situations. The seminar is held at The Negotiating Table from 6:00 PM-8:30:00 PM. Light refreshment is provided. The fee for the class is $95.

Negotiating the Scope of Ongoing Projects

Ongoing projects mean ongoing negotiations. As projects progress in time, they tend to grow in scope and size, but often the schedule and budget are not revised to reflect this. Clients are only too happy to get more work for free, and you find yourself working harder, making less, and missing your deadlines. This seminar is about negotiating with your client during the life of a project to ensure that you are compensated for scope changes and that your schedule reflects the realities of the project.
